Absurdum is a publication developed by ESAD.CR with the goal of showcasing the diverse creative talent within the university. Each issue brings together interviews, academic projects, visual essays and artistic processes, celebrating the variety and uniqueness found across the school’s different areas of study, from visual arts and design to ceramics, photography, multimedia and sound.
This project was developed as a group assignment within the degree program, and I played an important role in the creative direction, contributing directly to the definition of the publication’s visual identity. The editorial concept of this edition, Uniqueness Issue, encouraged us to explore the relationship between individual expression and graphic coherence, creating a visual language capable of unifying very different types of content within a consistent aesthetic approach.
We opted for an elegant and contemporary visual style, combining high-impact serif typography with circular graphic elements and delicate textures, creating a contrast between the classical and the experimental. The chosen colours, especially aqua green and magenta, were used as structural elements throughout the magazine, adding dynamism to each section and improving navigation. We also worked on page layouts, the balance between image and text, and the development of a clear visual hierarchy that ensured consistency across the entire publication.
The result is a magazine that reflects the identity of ESAD.CR: artistic, plural, bold and deeply connected to the creative processes of its students. Absurdum became not only an editorial object, but a visual portrait of the energy and uniqueness that define the school.
